Graduate School Fellowships for New, First-Year OSU Graduate Students

The Graduate School Fellowships competitions are part of Ohio State’s efforts to recruit outstanding students who plan to enter a graduate program at Ohio State for the first time in the upcoming academic year. These fellowships are awarded to deserving candidates through a highly competitive process that focuses on academic records, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, GRE scores, and potential to be successful in a graduate program. These award decisions are not based on financial need.

Nomination Process

Graduate students cannot directly apply for a Graduate School Fellowship. Applications for Graduate Admissions are reviewed and prospective students are selected to compete in the university-wide competition by their graduate program. Prospective graduate students may want to contact the graduate program you are interested in to learn more about the expectations the program has for its fellowship nominees.

Complete information regarding each fellowship, its' eligibility requirements, stipend, and tensure, along with nominating procedures, may be found in the current Fellowship Competition Announcement.

Once fellowship award decisions are made (mid-March), the Graduate School notifies all successful nominees.  Graduate programs are responsible for notifying students not selected for fellowship support.  In addition to receiving a letter of fellowship offer from the Dean of the Graduate School, each fellow receives Award Conditions and Information pertinent to their fellowship.
