| Students and other research staff are invited to attend an information session to learn about the IRB approval and exemption process. Training includes information about the types of studies that have these requirements, details about procedures, timelines for seeking approvals, and an opportunity to ask questions about specific projects. This event, co-sponsored by the Graduate School and the Office of Responsible Research Practices, will be held in Room 020 Page Hall on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. |

| The Graduate School’s quarterly meeting for Department Chairs and Graduate Studies Committee Chairs is scheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2010, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Blackwell Ballrooms B&C. This important meeting will include updates on semester conversion, University Fellowship competition, enrollment planning, and the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) and its Summer Conference. Patrick Osmer, Dean of the Graduate School, will present follow-up information on the task forces on the life sciences and the environmental sciences. | What is a successful relationship between a graduate student and his or her advisor? What are the graduate student's expectations of his or her advisor? Are advisors able to mentor their students with ease or do students need more than their advisors can give? This interactive theatre performance addresses some of the issues faced by advisors and their graduate student advisees. The audience will have the opportunity to engage with the issues by way of dialogue with the characters. This performance by the InterACT Diversity Players will be held on March 11, 2010, at 3:30 PM in the Bowen Theatre located in the Drake Performance Center, 1849 Cannon Drive. |
