Diversity in Graduate Education
Patrick S. Osmer,
Vice Provost of Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate School
The Graduate School is committed to effective recruitment, retention, and support systems for all students; inherent in that commitment is the belief that diversity is a critical part of excellence in graduate education.
The Graduate School and its Office of Graduate Recruitment and Diversity Initiatives have embarked on a multi-year plan to assist the university in meeting its goals for excellence through inclusion. This is a partnership between the Graduate School, the colleges, and all of the graduate programs.
As we identify and develop higher caliber graduate students, competition increases. To address this challenge, we are working with graduate programs to leverage resources to build multi-year funding packages (including fellowships, assistantship and external funding sources) that will help us recruit these students to Ohio State.
One of the Graduate School's signature and collaborative programs is the Summer Research Opportunities program. SROP Graduate School Fellowships are available to help recruit those students who successfully participated in Ohio State's SROP program.
