Document Preparation
Guidelines
The Graduate Council sets the general requirements for graduate degree documents at Ohio State. Graduate students should confer with their advisors and committee members to learn about program and discipline-specific requirements for their dissertations or theses. The Graduate School guidelines, however, have precedent over any program guidelines.

Templates
The following templates are available for use in formatting dissertations, theses, and DMA documents. They were created using the PC version of Word 2007.
- Students should select the template that contains the college in which their graduate program is housed. Each template is for use by graduate programs in two or more colleges. For example, students in the Department of Chemistry select "Engineering, Mathematical and Physical Sciences." Students in the School of Teaching and Learning select "Business, Social Work, Law, Social and Behavioral Science, Education and Human Ecology."
- Open the file and save it.
- Read all directions before beginning.
